Yoco Cut Its Fees in June. Here's What You Pay Now
Yoco cut its card machine fees in June 2026, and Core now starts at 2.30% with no monthly fee. What each plan costs and who it suits. Verified 5 November 2026.
Some links here are referral links, and where a provider gives our readers a better price than its own site, that is the price you get by using one. It costs you nothing extra, and every option here is judged on the same test either way.
Latest update on Yoco fees
Yoco's starting fee is now 2.30%, and its R49 monthly fee is gone
Earlier this year, you paid a fixed fee of 2.70% excluding VAT on sales up to R100 000 a month, plus R49 a month for each card machine. Now, on Yoco's free Core plan, you pay 2.30% on local debit and credit cards up to R50 000 a month in card sales, with no monthly fee.
So if you were making R20 000 a month in card sales, you were paying about R670 a month. You're now paying about R529. That's about R141 a month back in your business, or R1 692 a year.
What Yoco's new fees actually save you
Take a shop that's open six days a week and sells about R1 000 a day on card, on one Yoco machine. That's about R26 000 a month. It used to pay about R856 a month with VAT, and now pays about R688. Yoco says the cut applied automatically, so the owner didn't have to ask for it. Yoco charges one fee whichever bank you use, so the saving is the same on FNB or Nedbank, and the free payout still takes a day or two.

If you use Yoco, or you're thinking about it, you're probably paying less than you think. On 17 June 2026, Yoco said it had cut its fees by up to 40% across its network, putting over R250 million a year back into South African businesses. It also said the cut applied automatically, so nobody had to ask for it.
Yoco didn't share before-and-after numbers, so the ones above compare what it charged in February with what it charges now.
Yoco also changed how its pricing works. So let me take you through what changed, what each plan costs, who each one is for, and how much you're saving.
From one standard fee to three plans
Until this year, Yoco's pricing was simple. If you sold under R200 000 a month, there was one standard plan for you, with the fee dropping to 2.50% once you passed R100 000. Above R200 000, you could ask for a custom deal.
Now there are three plans: Core, Plus and Pro. Core is the old plan made cheaper, with a lower fee and no monthly charge. Plus and Pro are new. You pay a monthly fee, and in return you get a slightly lower fee on each sale and some extra tools.
What each plan costs
Here's what you pay on each plan. I'd start on Core (Yoco's plan)Yoco's standard plan, and the one almost every small business is on. It costs R0 a month, charges 2.30% excluding VAT per local card sale, and includes unlimited mobile data on the machine's multi-network SIM at no extra cost. Instant Payout costs a flat R17.25 for a payout under R1 000 and 1.5% above that on Core, for up to R10 000, once a day.On a quiet monthNo sales means no bill, because Core has no monthly fee and the data on the machine is included.Core is Yoco's free plan and the one most small businesses use. There's no monthly fee, card sales cost 2.30% excluding VAT on local cards up to R50 000 a month, and payouts are free within two business days unless you choose a faster one.See every term in the glossary, because it costs nothing a month. These fees are Excluding VATThe rate before 15% VAT is added, which is how almost every South African provider quotes. A rate of 2.30% excl. VAT actually bills you 2.645%, so two quotes are only comparable once you know which basis each is on.On the bill2.645% once VAT is added. On R20 000 a month in card sales that's R529, not R460.Every card machine fee in South Africa is quoted excluding VAT. If your business isn't VAT-registered, the amount with VAT is what actually leaves your account. If it is registered, you claim the VAT back and the lower amount is your real cost.See every term in the glossary, so Core's 2.30% comes to 2.645% on your bill, or about R2.65 on a R100 sale.
Yoco's card machine fees now
| A month | Debit up to R50 000 | Credit up to R50 000 | Debit R50 000 to R200 000 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Core | R0 | 2.30% | 2.30% | 1.35% |
| Plus | R249 | 2.10% | 2.20% | 1.25% |
| Pro | R499 | 1.95% | 2.15% | 1.20% |
Before VAT, local cards, on card machines. Credit stays at the same rate up to R200 000. International cards start at 3.20% on Core, 3.10% on Plus and 3.05% on Pro. Above R200 000 a month, Yoco agrees a rate with you.← scroll sideways on a narrow screen →
Which plan is right for you?
You don't need Yoco's website to work this out. Find the description closest to your business.
Which Yoco plan suits you
Will a paid plan pay for itself? Don't choose one for the lower fee alone. Plus saves you 0.20 of a point on debit, which is about R115 with VAT at R50 000 a month, against a R249 plan. Pro only starts paying for itself above about R45 000 a month in debit sales, and only if you'd otherwise pay for Fast Payout every day. So choose them for the tools.
How much you're saving
Here's your monthly bill on the old pricing next to Core today, with one machine. I've added VAT to the fee, so you can see what really leaves your account.
Your monthly bill before and after
| Before | Now | You keep a month | You keep a year | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| R5 000 a month | R204 | R132 | R72 | R864 |
| R10 000 a month | R360 | R265 | R95 | R1 140 |
| R20 000 a month | R670 | R529 | R141 | R1 692 |
| R40 000 a month | R1 291 | R1 058 | R233 | R2 796 |
Our sums, on local cards. Before is 2.70% with VAT plus R49 a month for one machine, which is what Yoco charged in February 2026. Now is Core at 2.30% with VAT. Rounded to the nearest rand.← scroll sideways on a narrow screen →
If you're a small business, this helps you the most, relatively. At R8 000 a month on cards, you keep about R86 more a month, because losing the R49 monthly fee counts for more when your sales are small. On a quiet month, you now only pay for what you sell.
If you run a busy shop or salon, it's real money. At R30 000 a month, that's about R187 more a month, or more than R2 200 a year.
If you're past R50 000 a month, debit cards are where you gain the most, because local debit on Core drops to 1.35% before VAT at that level.
To see what you're paying, open the Yoco app and go to Account, then Your Plan.
What else might you pay for?
The standard payout is free and lands in one to two business days. That's fine for most people. If you need your money sooner, there are two paid options.
Yoco's payouts on Core
| When it lands | Cost | |
|---|---|---|
| Standard payout | 1 to 2 business days | Free |
| Fast Payout | By 8am the next day, weekends too | 0.75% + VAT, from R7.50 + VAT |
| Instant Payout | Within minutes | 1.5% + VAT, from R17.25 |
On the Core plan. Fast Payout has a minimum of R7.50 + VAT, and Instant Payout a minimum of R17.25 and a limit of R10 000. Pro currently includes free Fast Payouts.
How does Yoco compare now?
Yoco's fee per sale isn't the lowest among its closest rivals any more, because iKhokha dropped its fee to 2.10% this month. But Yoco includes its data and its standard payout costs nothing, so at R20 000 a month on mobile data, it still comes to about R94 a month less.
If you're still unsure between Yoco and iKhokha, because they're so similar on price and what they offer, I've written a separate article on Yoco vs iKhokha. It shows how everything compares, so you can make the right decision.
Which machine should you start with?
Most people choosing Yoco want one of two machines, and they cost the same to run. I'd get the Khumo 2 unless your customers need a printed slip. It's R699, or R599 with the discount below. The Khumo Print 2 is R1 399, or R1 299 with the discount.

Where these numbers come fromWhere these numbers come from
Yoco's fees here are as they stood on 5 November 2026, and the June cut comes from Yoco's own announcement. If the fee moves again, we'll update this page and keep the older fees on record.
So what should you do?
If you're already on Yoco, you don't need to do anything to get the lower fee. It's still worth opening the app to check that you're on the plan that suits you. If you're choosing a machine, I'd start on Core with a Khumo 2. There's no monthly fee, the data's included, and on a quiet month you only pay for what you sell.
