3 Card Machines With the Fastest Payouts in South Africa
Yoco pays within minutes, iKhokha twice a day on Nedbank or its iK Debit Card, HelloPay within 24 hours. Ranked on speed, and what the speed costs.
Some links here are referral links, and where a provider gives our readers a better price than its own site, that is the price you get by using one. It costs you nothing extra, and every option here is judged on the same test either way.
With Yoco and iKhokha both able to pay you the same day, choosing between them comes down to who qualifies and how you pay for the speed. Yoco offers it to any business for a percentage of the payout. iKhokha charges a flat R2.50 a payout, if your bank or your sole-trader status lets you in.
So I've ranked the three card machines that can pay you within a day, then worked out what the speed costs at your daily card sales. I've kept to the card machine companies you can join without going through a bank.
How I ranked them
Speed comes first: how soon a normal day's card sales reach your bank, and whether that holds at weekends. Then the terms, meaning who can get that speed and what it costs. Where two pay equally fast, the one more businesses can use ranks higher.
WAPPoint isn't ranked, because its fastest is one to two business days, which Yoco gives every customer for free. Adumo doesn't say how fast it pays, so there's nothing to rank it on. You'll find both after the cost table, with what they do offer.
1. Yoco Khumo 2, within minutes at any bank
Yoco's Instant Payout sends your card sales to your bank within minutes of asking in the Yoco app, any day of the year. On Core (Yoco's plan)Yoco's standard plan, and the one almost every small business is on. It costs R0 a month, charges 2.30% excluding VAT per local card sale, and includes unlimited mobile data on the machine's multi-network SIM at no extra cost. Instant Payout costs a flat R17.25 for a payout under R1 000 and 1.5% above that on Core, for up to R10 000, once a day.Paid faster on CoreDraw R2 000 the same day with Instant Payout and it costs R30 plus VAT. Wait for Fast Payout by 8am and it's R15 plus VAT.Core is Yoco's free plan and the one most small businesses use. There's no monthly fee, card sales cost 2.30% excluding VAT on local cards up to R50 000 a month, and payouts are free in one to two business days unless you choose a faster one.See every term in the glossary, which is free, it's R17.25 for a payout under R1 000 and 1.5% plus VAT above that (1.25% on Plus, 1% on Pro). Through our link, Yoco takes R100 off the Khumo 2.

Instant Payout works only on a day you've made a sale, once a day, up to R10 000, and not for a short spell around midnight.
Yoco's help centre gives different limits. It has a R15 minimum, allows up to R30 000 twice a day after ten ordinary payouts in 90 days, and lists 25 banks against the 13 on the Instant Payout page. All five big banks are on both lists, so if you bank somewhere smaller, check with Yoco first.
Payouts are set on your Yoco account rather than the machine, so the Khumo Print 2 gets the same routes if your customers want printed slips.
Get it if you run a registered company, or you bank anywhere but Nedbank, because it's the only same-day money here that's open to you. Most days you won't need it within minutes, which is where the next-morning route comes in.
Or by 8am the next morning, for half the price
Money that's in your account before you open does most of what same-day money does, and it costs less.
Yoco's Yoco Fast PayoutYoco's next-morning payout, switched on in the Yoco app. Each day's card sales reach your bank account by 8am the next day, seven days a week, Sundays and public holidays included. It costs 0.75% plus VAT on the Core plan (at least R7.50), 0.50% on Plus, and Yoco says it's free on Pro for now. It costs 0.75% plus VAT on Core (at least R7.50), 0.50% on Plus, and Yoco says it's free on Pro for now. On Core it's 0.75% plus VAT, at least R7.50, which is half the price of Instant.
On the Pro plan, at R499 a month, Yoco says Fast Payout is free for now. By our sums Pro costs less than Fast Payout on Core once your card sales pass about R2 600 a day, and its fee per sale is lower too.
2. iKhokha iK Flyer Lite, the cheapest same day if you qualify
iKhokha pays the same day, twice a day, in two cases. Its price page says Nedbank customers are paid that way, sole trader or company. A sole trader at another bank can link the free iK Debit Card to a GoTyme Bank EveryDay accountA free personal transaction account from GoTyme Bank, a South African digital bank. It is not an iKhokha product: you open it yourself in the GoTyme app, then list it on your iKhokha profile as your payout account. It is the only account iKhokha's same-day iK Debit Card pays into. iKhokha also pays Nedbank customers twice a day, the same day, with no GoTyme account involved. For same-day moneyWith the iK Debit Card linked, a sale before 3pm on a Saturday is paid into it that afternoon, and one after 3pm by about 4am on Sunday.A free personal transaction account from GoTyme Bank, a South African digital bank, opened in the GoTyme app. It isn't an iKhokha product. iKhokha's iK Debit Card is for sole traders only, so a registered company can't use this route.See every term in the glossary opened in the GoTyme app, and iKhokha pays into it at about 4am and 3pm, every day of the week.
Each payout costs R2.50, so a day with two comes to R5. The iK Flyer Lite is 10% off through our link.

iKhokha pays FNB and Absa customers the next business day, Monday to Saturday, for the same R2.50 a payout, so weekend sales arrive on Monday. Other banks are paid more slowly.
iKhokha's help centre page on payouts leaves Nedbank out, so if Nedbank is your reason for choosing iKhokha, confirm the same-day payout when you sign up. A registered company banking elsewhere can't get the card, so for same-day money it's Yoco's Instant Payout.
Get it if either of those routes is open to you, because R2.50 a payout is the cheapest same-day money on this list. Its fee per sale is higher than Yoco's, and the cost table below weighs the two together.
3. HelloPay SWIPA, within 24 hours once it owes you over R300
HelloPay pays into any bank within 24 hours of processing a payment, and into its own HelloPaisa account as soon as it releases the money. It only pays out once it owes you more than R300 after deductions, so a quiet day's sales wait for the next one. The SWIPA is its standalone machine, at R999 once.
Three things to weigh before you buy. HelloPay doesn't list its fee per card sale, only that it falls as your card sales grow, so get yours in writing. It adds R100 in any month your card sales stay under R15 000. And its machines can't refund a sale to the customer's card.

What fast money costs at your daily card sales
Yoco's charge for speed grows with what you sell, while iKhokha's stays flat, so the cheaper route depends on your day. Find the column closest to a normal day's card sales. Our payout times guide explains why faster money costs anything at all.
What each payout route costs over a month of 26 trading days:
What getting paid costs in a month
| R500 a day | R2 000 a day | R6 000 a day | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yoco Instant Payout, same day | R448.50 | R897 | R2 691 |
| iKhokha, twice a day, same day | R130 | R130 | R130 |
| Yoco Fast Payout, by 8am next day | R224.25 | R448.50 | R1 345.50 |
| iKhokha on FNB or Absa, next business day | R65 | R65 | R65 |
| Yoco standard, 1 to 2 business days | Free | Free | Free |
By our sums, VAT included, from each company's own pages. Yoco's figures are on its free Core plan, and iKhokha's same day needs Nedbank or the iK Debit Card.← scroll sideways on a narrow screen →
Yoco's Fast Payout costs exactly half of Instant at every amount, and iKhokha's same day costs the same R130 whatever you sell.
iKhokha's same-day payouts cost less than either Yoco route at every amount here, but its fee per sale is higher, 2.75% against Yoco's 2.30% before VAT. By our sums that gap adds about R67 a month at R500 a day, and even with it added, iKhokha's same day costs less than Yoco's Fast Payout at both R500 and R2 000 a day. Above that, the share of your sales on debit cards changes who's cheaper, so add up both bills with the card machine fees guide.
If a day or two is fine
WAPPoint pays in one to two business days, five days a week, with no payout fee, and adds a sixth day for a 0.2% fee. It suits the business that would rather rent than buy, because the SquarePOS RX is R189 a month and the rental falls away in any month you take over R15 000 on card.

WAPPoint SquarePOS RX
Paid in one to two business days at no charge, on a machine you rent rather than buy.
My quick review of the SquarePOS RX, if a day or two is fine
If R699 upfront is out of reach right now, this is the cheapest way to start taking cards. WAPPoint rents it for R189 a month plus R50 insurance, after R200 to set up, and the R189 falls away in any month you take more than R15 000 on card. So a busy month costs you R50 and a quiet one R239. You can also buy it for R3 199 excluding VAT. The WAPPoint review explains the threshold in full.
Where it stands out
- No rental in any month above R15 000
- R200 to start
- Vodacom or MTN 4G, and Wi-Fi
- An all-day battery
Buy it if
- You can't put R699 down today
- You take more than R15 000 a month on card most months
Skip it if
- Your card sales are small: below R15 000 you pay R239 a month
- You'd rather own the machine from day one for less
If you skip it, the best alternative
R499 less to start (R200 against R699), but below R15 000 a month it costs R239 every month, where the Khumo 2 costs nothing monthly.

Adumo pays into the bank you choose without charging for payouts, but doesn't say how fast, so agree your payout terms with its account manager before you sign.
If you bank at Capitec, its own card machine pays into a Capitec account the next day for free, weekends and public holidays included. Capitec vs Yoco works out when that beats Yoco.
So, which card machine pays out fastest?
Of the card machines that say how fast they pay into the big banks, Yoco's is quickest, with Instant Payout within minutes on any day. iKhokha pays the same day too, twice a day, if you bank with Nedbank or you're a sole trader with its iK Debit Card, and it charges less for it.
If you qualify for iKhokha's same day, I'd get the iK Flyer Lite, because R2.50 a payout is the cheapest same-day money here. For everyone else, I'd get the Yoco Khumo 2 and switch on Fast Payout. Yesterday's sales are in your bank by 8am every day for half what Instant costs, and Instant is still there for the odd day you need money within minutes.
If you're weighing the two companies on more than payouts, Yoco vs iKhokha compares the rest.
My pick came down to four things, so answer the four questions below for your shop. They ask when you need the money, where you bank, whether you've registered a company and how much you sell by card in a day.

The Yoco Khumo 2 with Fast Payout, open to any business
It pays every day's card sales into any of the big banks by 8am the next morning, Sundays included, for 0.75% plus VAT on Core, however you're registered.
The trade-off: it's the next morning, not the same day. If you bank with Nedbank, or you're a sole trader willing to open a GoTyme account, iKhokha pays the same day for R2.50 a payout.
